This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Carolina.

📋 Description

• Act as a knowledgeable disaster recovery specialist, demonstrating experience in aiding local governments with long-term recovery efforts following natural disasters, while also serving as a hands-on project manager overseeing a dynamic and intricate disaster recovery process.

• Candidates must utilize their understanding of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Public Assistance (PA) Program - Permanent Work (Categories C-G), and how these can be strategically leveraged to address complex challenges and requirements in a post-catastrophic disaster setting.

• Function as a subject matter expert for the FEMA PA Program, capable of addressing policy-related inquiries within a reasonable yet necessary timeframe.

• Supervise a multi-disciplinary team handling all facets of recovery (e.g., cost recovery, infrastructure redevelopment, economic development, housing, social services, etc.), assigning tasks, evaluating staffing requirements, and developing strategies to meet unmet needs and optimize funding.

• Uphold robust project management best practices, ensuring that the client is informed on all initiatives; deliverables maintain the highest quality; and that Hagerty's core values of integrity, innovation, teamwork, and excellence are upheld throughout all endeavors.


⛳️ Requirements

• Prior experience supporting local governments affected by natural disasters through various federal disaster grant programs from the initial stages of a disaster through grant obligation and closeout.

• A minimum of four (4) years of experience in the FEMA PA Program, including Permanent Work (Categories C-G).

• Proven experience in managing complex and dynamic projects effectively.

• High proficiency in written communication, including the capability to create detailed and policy-complex recommendation documents.

• Excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to present to senior stakeholders effectively.

• Previous experience overseeing workloads for large, multi-disciplinary teams with varying levels of expertise (e.g., junior associates through senior subject matter experts).

• Strong proficiency with MS Office applications, databases, and other technology platforms.

• A bachelor's degree is required.
