This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of technical accounting across key areas that will shape our audit and S-1, including revenue recognition (ASC 606), stock-based compensation and equity transactions (ASC 718), capitalized software (both internal-use and software intended for sale), leases (ASC 842), business combinations (ASC 805), and intricate financing instruments.
• Manage the preparation of GAAP financial statements and footnote disclosures from inception, including MD&A and the necessary disclosures for registration.
• Lead the external audit process — develop the policy library, establish the PBC process, and act as the main technical contact for auditors. Advocate for positions independently.
• Define and oversee the work of external technical accounting advisors — guide their tasks, determine when to engage them versus handling tasks in-house, and ensure they adhere to our standards.
• Maintain the relationship with valuation specialists regarding 409As, purchase price allocations, and intangible asset valuations.
• Collaborate with tax advisors on international transfer pricing and intercompany accounting matters.
• Establish the groundwork for SEC reporting (S-1, 10-K, 10-Q) and SOX readiness — design the workflows, controls, and timelines that will facilitate public company operations.
• Create and document accounting policies that are transparent, defensible, and scalable.
• Utilize AI proactively — for research, drafting memos, conducting tie-outs, benchmarking disclosures, and automating workflows — and develop custom tools where beneficial.
• Expand the team as we grow.
• Active CPA credential, with a robust foundation from a Big 4 or national firm.
• Over 8 years of progressive experience in technical accounting and/or financial reporting, with extensive knowledge of US GAAP.
• Proficient technical expertise across areas such as revenue (ASC 606), equity compensation (ASC 718), leases (ASC 842), and business combinations (ASC 805) — able to tackle complex issues and produce a well-supported memo independently.
• Proven experience in creating GAAP financial statements and footnotes from the ground up, rather than solely reviewing them.
• Skilled in managing external auditors and accounting consultants — adept at scoping, directing, and asserting when necessary.
• A builder's mindset — comfortable with uncertainty, proactive rather than reactive, and a strong inclination to deliver results.
• A demonstrated AI-native working style — employs LLMs daily for drafting, research, and analysis, and can articulate clearly the strengths and weaknesses of these tools in accounting contexts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills — able to clarify technical accounting concepts for non-accountants without sacrificing accuracy.
• Proficient in coding small scripts or automations (Python, SQL, etc.) to enhance personal productivity.
• High integrity, strong sense of ownership, and a low-ego approach.
• Medical, dental, and vision benefits
• Annual wellness stipend
• Mental health support
• Life, STD, and LTD Income Insurance Plans
• Unlimited PTO
• Generous paid parental leave
• Flexible schedule
• 12 Paid US company holidays
• Quarterly personal productivity stipend
• One-time stipend for home office enhancements
• 401(k) plan with company matching
• Tax Savings Programs
• Learning/Education stipend
• Opportunities to participate in talks and conferences
