This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.
• Oversee comprehensive supply chain operations from start to finish: Develop strategies and manage execution at launch.
• Enhance strategic capabilities: Build robust capabilities to support both current and upcoming assets from the Scholar Rock pipeline.
• Promote interdepartmental collaboration: Collaborate closely with teams such as planning, manufacturing, logistics, regulatory, finance, IT, and commercial to ensure supply objectives align with broader business goals.
• Build and maintain external partnerships: Foster productive relationships with external packaging contract manufacturers (CMOs) to achieve mutual benefits in efficiency and cost savings.
• Negotiate and secure strategic agreements: Assist in negotiating contracts with packaging CMO providers to obtain favorable terms while ensuring high-quality service delivery.
• Lead execution of New Product Introductions in collaboration with external partners for the Japanese market.
• Oversee packaging qualification: Manage product packaging qualification and validation activities to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Coordinate logistics operations with colleagues and partners for the importation of drug products and the transfer of finished goods to wholesalers.
• Continuous Improvement: Aid in the ongoing assessment and utilization of KPIs for CMO partners regarding compliance, pricing, service, and capacity while conducting business review meetings.
• Risk mitigation: Develop, implement, and monitor strategies for mitigating risks in supply operations.
• Ensure Supply System readiness: Collaborate with IT to implement systems that support supply chain operations in accordance with regulatory standards.
• Materials Management: Supervise purchase order/invoice management and material management within the Scholar Rock ERP system for Japan.
• Champion budgeting & cost control: Assist in managing the budget for supply chain operations, monitor expenditures, and actively seek cost reduction opportunities while upholding high service quality standards.
• Conduct strategic cost-benefit analysis: Facilitate thorough analysis of supply chain operations to identify potential savings in operational efficiency.
• Ensure timely product supply: Guarantee smooth inventory supply, ensuring product delivery timelines and customer expectations are met.
• Maintain customer satisfaction: Ensure timely and accurate product deliveries while upholding service quality, precision, and attention to customer requirements.
• Resolve supply operations challenges: Tackle and resolve product supply issues related to packaging operations or operational hurdles to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and service excellence.
• Be an engaged member of the supply chain and Japanese teams to drive commercial success.
• Collaborate closely with global execution teams (IT/Systems, Finance) to ensure cross-functional alignment.
• Work alongside quality and regulatory teams to ensure compliance with global regulations while being prepared for inspections and audits related to artwork, packaging, and distribution operations.
• A bachelor's degree in supply chain management, chemistry, or a related field.
• Proven experience in the Biopharma industry, with at least 10 years at the Associate Director level or higher.
• Experience with start-up or rare disease products is advantageous.
• Experience in commercial product launches, including artwork, packaging operations, and transportation/distribution.
• Strong strategic planning abilities with a keen interest in developing teams and individual talents.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and capacity for data-driven decision-making.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage with internal teams, external partners, and regulatory bodies.
• Excellent organizational skills, enabling effective management of multiple projects and deadlines.
