
Director, Specialty Finance Lending Origination

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.
• Take charge of the entire range of Specialty Finance Lending operations, from initiating new business to transaction closure and ongoing account management.
• Act as the main point of contact for customers regarding originated transactions when appropriate.
• Identify and cultivate business opportunities, negotiate documentation, manage client relationships, and sustain accounts to optimize revenue and fee income.
• Generate new SFL facilities through direct marketing, targeted outreach, existing channels, and collaboration with other specialty finance lenders.
• Oversee or execute the processes related to sourcing, structuring, pricing, proposal drafting, negotiation, due diligence, underwriting, documentation, closure, and ongoing facility administration.
• Address remedial management or workout activities as necessary.
• Support the syndication of SFL facilities and provide education or training to current syndicators.
• Identify potential syndication partners through industry networking, research, and market insights.
• Explore and develop new markets and product channels, including creating position papers and white papers.
• Present growth opportunities to senior management and both internal and external stakeholders.
• Enhance knowledge of Key products and services while developing product-partner relationships to facilitate cross-selling opportunities.
• Expand the portfolio by meeting targets for assets under management, facility fees, and syndication fees while adhering to appropriate risk tolerances.
• Maintain account relationships and maximize revenue from current facilities, including new and renewed commitments, transaction closures, waivers, amendments, syndications, and other fees.
• Keep abreast of industry trends, product knowledge, client, and investor information, and attend relevant industry events.
• Mentor and train junior sales team members.
• Adhere to KeyBank policies and procedures and uphold ethical business practices.
• A Bachelor's Degree is required, preferably with a focus on business or finance.
• An MBA is preferred.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in corporate finance, lending, and leasing, including at least 3 years concentrated on structured facilities in the specialty lending sector.
• At least 5 years of senior-level experience in financial sales and business development, demonstrating a successful track record.
• Comprehensive knowledge of capital markets related to lease-based asset lending and structured debt placement activities.
• Exceptional written, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
• Strong skills in risk assessment, structuring, and remedial management.
• Excellent documentation and negotiation capabilities.
• Superior organizational, analytical, and leadership abilities.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
• Proficient in sourcing, structuring, pricing, proposal development, due diligence, underwriting, documentation, closure, and facility management.
• Capability to mentor and train junior sales personnel.
• Ability to adhere to KeyBank's policies, procedures, ethical standards, and conflict-of-interest requirements.
