This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.
• Develop a clear vision and strategy for KinderCare’s Software Engineering capabilities, integrating people, processes, and technology.
• Spearhead the development and delivery of high-quality software solutions across various platforms.
• Mentor managers, software engineers, architects, and cross-functional technical leaders within distributed onshore and offshore teams.
• Enhance organizational capability through workforce planning, succession planning, talent development, and leadership coaching.
• Boost team throughput and developer productivity utilizing AI development tools, modern engineering practices, and process enhancements.
• Establish, uphold, and govern architectural direction and technical roadmaps.
• Balance the engagement of contract workers and full-time employees to optimize delivery capacity, cost, and knowledge continuity.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Quality Engineering, Portfolio, and Infrastructure/Operations.
• Define quarterly team objectives and key results in alignment with business and technology priorities.
• Ensure efficient, effective, and scalable software development and architectural processes.
• Advocate for KinderCare’s Discovery to Delivery framework.
• Report on progress, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership and stakeholders.
• Engage in cross-functional technology leadership activities and strategic initiatives.
• Deliver customer-focused problem-solving and incident management.
• Foster an MVP-delivery mindset across teams.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
• Over 10 years of experience in software development, demonstrating a successful history of delivering high-quality software products.
• More than 5 years in a leadership position managing and developing teams of software engineers, both onshore and offshore.
• Proven experience in managing software architects and nurturing architectural talent.
• Practical experience in building software using modern AI development tools, including AI coding assistants and agentic development workflows.
• A history of enhancing team throughput through AI tools and process improvements.
• Experience in delivering high-quality customer-facing websites, applications, and services, including payment solutions and financial transaction systems.
• Strong technical foundation in software architecture, design patterns, and development methodologies.
• Proven experience optimizing software engineering delivery using Agile methodologies across multiple platforms and product teams.
• Experience in managing a blend of contract workers and full-time employees.
• Proven capability in managing vendor relationships for individual contract engineers and managed software engineering services.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities and complex projects within a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
