This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Guide, mentor, and cultivate a high-performing team of software engineers across various teams, including managers and senior individual contributors.
• Oversee hiring, performance evaluations, and career development for direct reports; foster a robust pool of engineering talent through effective recruitment and retention strategies.
• Develop engineering managers focusing on accountability, goal-setting, and career progression — nurture leaders who can operate autonomously and drive results.
• Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, urgency, and continuous improvement throughout the engineering organization.
• Manage the evolution of engineering practices — establish and monitor significant engineering metrics, utilizing data to inform decisions and showcase progress.
• Create and continuously refine engineering processes, standards, and best practices to enhance delivery speed while preserving quality and reliability.
• Oversee the entire software development lifecycle for designated product areas, from architecture and design through to delivery, quality assurance, and ongoing operations.
• Collaborate with Engineering leaders to define and implement the engineering roadmap, ensuring alignment with HungerRush’s business strategy and product priorities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Over 10 years of progressive software engineering experience, including more than 5 years in engineering leadership or management positions.
• Proven success in leading teams of 10+ engineers within a SaaS or cloud-native product environment.
• Demonstrated track record of enhancing an engineering organization — implementing engineering metrics, refining processes, and significantly improving delivery and quality standards.
• Strong technical foundation with hands-on experience in modern software development, including cloud platforms, distributed systems, and RESTful API design (preferably on the Microsoft stack).
• Experience in building and scaling multi-tenant SaaS platforms that handle high transaction volumes.
• Expertise in Agile/Scrum methodologies and a history of driving continuous delivery practices.
• Proven ability to make decisions based on data by utilizing engineering metrics.
• Experience in managing and developing engineering managers, including performance evaluations, goal-setting, and career progression.
• Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills; capacity to convey technical concepts to executive and non-technical audiences.
• Demonstrated capability to foster and maintain a healthy engineering culture in a distributed, remote-first organization.
