Director, Senior IP Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and uphold a robust intellectual property portfolio that supports research and development, manufacturing, and commercialization of biologics products.

• Act as a strategic collaborator with senior leaders in discovery, research, manufacturing, and development regarding patent, regulatory data exclusivity, trademark, and other intellectual property matters.

• Assist in corporate development, business development, and research collaborations, which includes due diligence, contract drafting and negotiation, and alliance management.

• Track patent trends and case law changes in the U.S. and key international markets, modifying IP strategies accordingly.

• Represent BeOne Medicines’ viewpoints on intellectual property government and regulatory policy issues.

• Perform patent and prior art searches, competitive landscape analyses, patentability assessments, and freedom-to-operate evaluations.

• Review draft publications and presentations for compliance and accuracy.

• Provide litigation support, which includes validity and non-infringement assessments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited U.S. law school.

• Must be admitted to the USPTO and at least one state bar.

• Minimum of 7 years of pertinent experience in biopharmaceutical intellectual property practice.

• An advanced degree in biological sciences is preferred; Ph.D. is highly regarded.

• In-depth knowledge of global biopharmaceutical patent law, regulatory data protection, and best practices in the U.S. and other major markets.

• Experience within the pharmaceutical industry and a strong grasp of drug discovery, development, manufacturing, and commercialization of biologics, small molecules, and various other drug types.

• Proven experience in drafting patent applications and responding to patent office actions.

• A demonstrated history of developing patent portfolios.

• Experience in developing intellectual property portfolios for ADC and/or cell and gene therapy assets is preferred.

• Capability to collaborate effectively while also working independently and managing competing priorities.

• Ability to comprehend complex laws and regulations and translate them into practical, business-oriented legal advice.

• Competence in handling confidential and proprietary information while exercising discretion and sound judgment.

• Self-driven, dependable, and responsive.

• Willingness to adapt and take on new responsibilities as necessary.

• Openness to travel up to 5% of the time.
