Director, Safety & Health – Central Territory

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Accountable for reducing the organization's risk exposure by spearheading the safety function through loss analysis and prevention within assigned areas.

• Collaborating with the Central Territory along with its Senior Vice President, Regional Vice Presidents, and District Managers to implement initiatives and manage performance relative to organizational targets.

• Directing and guiding department staff to effectively carry out all Safety and Health initiatives.

• Ensuring ongoing safety enhancements and establishing annual objectives and targets.

• Monitoring schedules and results of Safety and Health audits.

• Overseeing Early Career Professionals (ECPs) or recent graduates within the Territory.

• Assisting RSMs and Branch Managers to ensure timely completion of incident investigations according to Sunbelt Rentals Policies.

• Aiding in the development and monitoring of suitable corrective actions.

• Analyzing all incidents to identify trends in frequency and severity and formulating appropriate loss control strategies.

• Supporting the EVP of Safety and Health in reviewing and revising Policies and Procedures.

• Assisting the SVP in the implementation of Engage for Life Principles throughout the Territory.

• Coordinating with Sunbelt University and RSMs regarding safety training initiatives.

• Establishing a Territory Safety & Health Committee.

• Conducting monthly Safety Coordinator calls with Territory coordinators.

• Providing a weekly report to the Territory SVP, SR VPs, RVPs, and DMs summarizing weekly activities.

• Ensuring that Supervisor Training is carried out efficiently and in a timely manner within the Territory.

• Maintaining a consistent Near Miss Reporting Program in the territory and providing branches with weekly feedback on the quality and severity of reported near misses.

• Ensuring the appropriate pre-task planning program is utilized within the territory.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience combined with 10+ years of safety experience.

• Strong leadership abilities.

• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.

• Familiarity with Safety regulations and compliance requirements.

• ASP, CSP, or CIH certification is required.

• Must be capable of bending, squatting, crouching, reaching, and lifting up to 25 pounds or more as necessary for the role.
