This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead the revenue intelligence engine for a rapidly growing SaaS organization.
• Act as the primary technical authority on ASC 606, offering definitive guidance on revenue recognition for intricate, multi-element SaaS arrangements, which include subscriptions, usage-based pricing, and bundled offerings.
• Assess new products, pricing strategies, contract structures, and strategic transactions to ascertain suitable accounting treatment; draft technical accounting memos and position papers.
• Continuously update and refine revenue accounting policies to guarantee consistent adherence to GAAP throughout the organization.
• Manage comprehensive revenue accounting operations, encompassing recognition, deferred revenue, commissions, and closing deliverables.
• Create and implement scalable, standardized revenue accounting procedures that promote predictability, efficiency, and consistency across monthly, quarterly, and annual closing cycles.
• Establish structured review schedules and operational routines—reconciliation checklists, management reviews, variance analysis—to ensure repeatable, audit-ready results.
• Identify and remove process redundancies within revenue and billing operations; collaborate with the Billing team to enhance accuracy, standardization, and efficiency at scale.
• Lead the documentation of all revenue accounting policies, procedures, and process flows to facilitate scalability and retention of institutional knowledge.
• Develop and manage a revenue analytics capability that provides timely, actionable insights to FP&A, Sales Operations, and executive leadership.
• Design and maintain reporting frameworks that offer visibility into revenue trends, deferred revenue waterfalls, contract modifications, and commission expenses.
• Assist in forecasting and scenario modeling with revenue-specific analysis to support informed, data-driven decision-making across the organization.
• Collaborate with FP&A on revenue inputs related to financial planning, board reporting, and other materials for senior audiences.
• Advocate for the integration of AI and automation tools to enhance the speed, accuracy, and scalability of revenue accounting workflows.
• Work with Systems and IT on ERP enhancements (NetSuite/SuiteBilling), billing system upgrades, and integrations that support revenue operations.
• Serve as a trusted financial advisor to the CRO and other senior leaders on pre-execution deal structuring, contract terms, and commercial arrangements with revenue accounting implications.
• Engage in high-level, confidential financial analysis projects that require executive discretion and technical expertise.
• Collaborate with leaders across Sales Operations, Billing, Legal, IT, and FP&A to drive systemic improvements in the end-to-end quote-to-cash process.
• Manage the revenue accounting relationship with external auditors, ensuring clean, well-documented deliverables that uphold the highest standards of financial integrity.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; CPA is mandatory.
• Over 12 years of progressive accounting experience, including substantial revenue accounting leadership within a SaaS or technology firm.
• Extensive technical knowledge of ASC 606 and SaaS revenue models (subscriptions, usage-based, multi-element arrangements); proven experience in drafting technical memos.
• Proven leadership skills with a history of building, developing, and retaining high-performing accounting teams.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with and influence senior leaders, including C-suite executives, on complex financial and commercial issues.
• Strong operational mindset, with experience in driving process standardization, closing efficiency, and scalable accounting infrastructure.
• Established record of managing external audits to timely and clean completion, with robust relationships with auditors.
• Proficiency in ERP systems; experience with NetSuite and SuiteBilling is highly preferred.
• Strong analytical skills and experience overseeing revenue reporting and analytics; familiarity with BI or data visualization tools is a plus.
• Demonstrated interest in or experience with applying AI and automation tools in finance and accounting processes.
• High standards of accuracy, integrity, and professionalism; exercises sound judgment and maintains confidentiality on sensitive matters.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; adept at conveying technical accounting concepts to non-technical audiences.
