This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee and cultivate a team of Clinical Research Project Managers who are responsible for clinical studies and observational research initiatives.
• Handle recruitment, onboarding, coaching, performance evaluations, career growth, succession planning, and performance management or disciplinary actions.
• Establish and track KPIs such as timely milestones, budget compliance, quality metrics, client satisfaction/NPS, revenue generation, utilization, and staff retention.
• Create resource allocation strategies that align project manager capabilities and skills with portfolio requirements.
• Maintain utilization objectives while balancing billable work with training, mentoring, and business development efforts.
• Manage contingency planning for coverage during absences, attrition, portfolio increases, and risk concentration.
• Lead the development and enforcement of SOPs, RACI, governance frameworks, QMS, and process discipline within the project management team.
• Engage in Project Review processes to identify potential risks, mentor project managers, uphold standards, and implement corrective measures.
• Ensure precise updates for Planisware milestones, baselines, and financial forecasts.
• Advocate for inspection readiness and oversee portfolio health monitoring.
• Collaborate with Quality Assurance on CAPA execution, audit responses, and enhancements to SOPs.
• Represent UBC in governance meetings, business reviews, and escalation discussions as necessary.
• Guarantee high-quality client and internal leadership communications along with status reporting suitable for executive review.
• Partner with Data Management, Clinical Operations, Biostatistics, Medical Writing, Regulatory Affairs, Site Management, HR, Finance, and Segment leadership on resource allocation, quality assurance, delivery, organizational structure, compensation planning, and capacity forecasting.
• A bachelor's degree in a life science, health science, or a related field is mandatory.
• At least 10 years of clinical project management experience within a CRO, pharmaceutical, or biotech environment.
• Minimum of 5 years of direct experience in people management.
• Proven history of leading teams in delivering comprehensive clinical trials, PASS, registries, and RWE programs.
• Capability to lead teams that are responsible for revenue generation, margin management, and execution of change orders.
• Proficiency in project management methodologies, resource planning, risk management, and contingency planning.
• Strong expertise in Planisware, CTMS, financial forecasting tools, SharePoint, Teams, Excel, and Copilot.
• Background in regulatory inspection readiness involving FDA, EMA, and Health Canada.
• Familiarity with GCP/ICH standards.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills suitable for executive-level interactions.
• Ability to distill complex issues into straightforward decisions and recommendations.
• Capacity to hold teams accountable for KPIs while fostering talent development and maintaining engagement.
• Comfort navigating a matrixed, global environment that includes US and European teams.
• PMP or equivalent certification is preferred.
• Typically manages 10 to 15 direct reports, including Senior PMs and PMs.
