Director, Product Design

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the user journeys, flows, and interaction design for the Seven Bridges Platform: collaborate with product managers on challenges, outcomes, and scope, then oversee the experience implementation.

• Develop our design system from the ground up: create design tokens, a component library that aligns with our front-end code, and establish standards that unify our product surfaces under a cohesive visual language.

• Ensure rapid prototyping is efficient and secure: uphold the foundations that PMs establish, review the quality of prototypes before they are presented to customers, and transition validated prototypes into production-ready designs.

• Supervise our product designer focused on the clinical aspects: set objectives, enhance their skills, provide constructive feedback, and be accountable for the quality of design across both sectors.

• Design AI functionalities within the product: create assistant and copilot experiences, and develop AI-generated outcomes that scientists and clinicians can rely on and verify.

• Collaborate closely with front-end engineers to ensure the design system is integrated in code, not just represented in Figma.

• Utilize product analytics to identify user difficulties, highlight experience debt, and present product leadership with a clear rationale for prioritizing fixes.

• Contribute design insights to strategic discussions at the leadership level.

⛳️ Requirements

• You have over seven years of experience in product design, with senior responsibility for user journeys in complex, data-intensive, or scientific software.

• You have built or led at least one design system that engineering teams have genuinely adopted, and you understand what it takes to maintain one.

• You have formally managed designers, not just mentored them, and the individuals you've overseen have improved and would choose to work with you again.

• You are adept at making a significant impact through systems that others utilize, rather than solely through screens you have personally designed.

• You have previously thrived in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and are seeking another similar opportunity.

• You are already using AI tools for design, prototyping, and producing functional software, and you have well-defined opinions on where these tools are beneficial and where they may mislead.

• You have experience designing AI-driven product experiences or possess a clear perspective on trust, transparency, and human oversight in AI interfaces.

• You are an expert in Figma, including variables and design-to-code workflows like Code Connect.

• You have sufficient front-end knowledge to collaborate effectively with engineers on components and limitations.
