Director of Software Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.

📋 Description

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 10 full-stack developers focused on Node.js services and Salesforce customizations.

• Foster measurable enhancements in developer efficiency utilizing DORA metrics: lead time, deployment frequency, change failure rate, and MTTR.

• Accelerate delivery timelines by segmenting epics into smaller, independently deployable components and challenge inflated estimates using data.

• Design comprehensive solutions that encompass Node.js microservices, APIs, event-driven architectures, and Salesforce (Apex, Lightning, integrations).

• Take ownership of solution performance metrics: latency, throughput, scalability, and cost—set SLOs and ensure the team meets them.

• Implement estimation, sprint, and release protocols; eliminate obstacles; maintain accountability without overwhelming the team.

• Collaborate with Product, QA, and Infrastructure to synchronize roadmap, capacity, and dependencies.

• Recruit, onboard, and manage engineer performance; cultivate a culture of ownership and speed.

⛳️ Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering with a minimum of 5 years leading development teams of 8–20 engineers.

• Extensive, up-to-date hands-on expertise with **Node.js** (Express/Nest, async patterns, performance optimization, microservices).

• Familiarity with the **Salesforce** platform—Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flows, REST/Platform Events, and Node.js↔Salesforce integration patterns.

• Established **technical architect** experience: designed distributed systems, API contracts, data models, and performance-critical solutions in production environments.

• Proven history of **schedule compression**—demonstrated instances where you significantly reduced cycle time or advanced release dates without compromising quality.

• Strong skills in estimation and planning within Agile/Scrum or Kanban methodologies.

• Experience enhancing **solution performance**: profiling, caching, query optimization, horizontal scaling, and observability (APM, logs, traces).

• Cloud-native delivery experience (preferably AWS) with CI/CD, IaC, and contemporary DevOps practices.

• Exceptional stakeholder communication skills—capable of negotiating scope versus time versus quality with executives.
