Director of Quality Assurance Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Reevaluate the methodologies and skillsets/training of the QA team in an era where AI produces most of the code — focusing on evaluation methodologies, coverage metrics that consider AI-generated tests, and scaling validation for the increasing volumes of code and use cases, all without a corresponding increase in headcount.

• Lead, develop, and motivate a high-performing team of Quality Engineers; take ownership of hiring objectives, career progression, and fostering a highly impactful, innovative culture; cultivate leadership capabilities within your team.

• Act as the representative of quality to executive leadership and regulatory bodies by providing significant metrics and verifiable evidence; serve as the quality gate for the organization.

• Manage an AI-driven technical quality architecture: implement a test data strategy in environments constrained by PHI, design CI/CD-integrated gates, and establish the automation framework philosophy across unit, integration, and end-to-end testing surfaces.

• Define release quality standards and exit criteria that strike a balance between engineering speed and production assurance; establish defect triage and escalation procedures utilized across teams.

• Collaborate with platform and MLE teams to incorporate AI/LLM evaluation methodologies into the delivery pipeline.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in software quality engineering, including more than 4 years in a leadership position and at least 2 years in developing strategies and executing plans within an AI-accelerated development environment.

• Proven experience in building or transforming a quality function at scale — focusing on organizational and role design, rather than just team management.

• Expertise in assessing AI-generated tests for correctness of intent and coverage accuracy — capable of differentiating between tests that merely pass and those that genuinely verify the intended behavior.

• Demonstrated measurable impact through mutation testing, risk-based testing, and production observability as a continuous quality gate.

• Experience in regulated environments (such as HIPAA or equivalent) is highly preferred.
