Director of Product Management

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• The PM team: Lead, mentor, and expand a team of three already-capable PMs — and recruit additional members as we scale.

• Prioritization: Take ownership of the growth, retention, and profitability trade-offs on a unified roadmap — determining what gets developed, what is postponed, and what is discontinued.

• Multi-service strategy: Transform a successful vertical into a replicable playbook across multiple services, designing for both customers and Pros as an integrated system.

• Agent-native direction: Control how AI and agents are integrated into our offerings — for our team, our customers, and our Pros.

• Cross-functional partnership: Be the product leader whom the entire company trusts to make sound decisions.

⛳️ Requirements

• AI-native and agent-curious. You utilize AI daily and encourage the team to do the same. You recognize that agents represent the next major platform shift, and you're excited about exploring what an agent-driven world means for LawnStarter — acting as a genuine thought partner rather than one who arrives with all the answers. This role may not be suitable if you view AI merely as a productivity tool.

• A player-coach who amplifies talent. You achieve exceptional results from already-skilled individuals — coaching, raising standards, and removing obstacles — while still engaging in the most challenging tasks when necessary. You understand the difference between leading and controlling. This position may not fit if you feel the need to "fix" a dysfunctional team to feel valuable, or if you've transitioned entirely into management and prefer not to engage with the product directly.

• A systems thinker. You recognize inputs, rules, feedback loops, and secondary effects, and you integrate both the customer and Pro perspectives as one cohesive unit. This role might not suit you if you consider features in isolation and overlook how changes reverberate throughout the entire system.

• A ruthless prioritizer. You excel at saying no — you sequence tasks diligently, eliminate good-but-not-essential work, and safeguard the team's focus. This opportunity may not be right for you if you shy away from the challenging discussions that prioritization entails.

• A strong cross-functional collaborator. You gain the trust of designers, engineers, data analysts, finance, and operations by communicating effectively and making respected decisions. This role may not be a good fit if you see other departments as mere service providers instead of partners.

• Detail-oriented regarding scoping and user experience. You trim the scope to its essentials and pay close attention to the product's usability. This position may not suit you if you release the first functioning version without ensuring that it is truly excellent.
