Director of Platform Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Oversee all facets of cloud infrastructure and corporate IT operations

• Collaborate with security, engineering, data, customer success, and leadership teams

• Design and implement scalable, reliable, and secure cloud solutions for the data platform and services ecosystem

• Write infrastructure-as-code, primarily utilizing Terraform, and promote automation and configuration management best practices

• Enhance investment in observability to support products and customers

• Design and implement disaster recovery and business continuity strategies

• Scale data and SaaS services while ensuring reliability and performance

• Develop infrastructure and IT strategies that align with technical and business objectives

• Foster an agile DevOps culture with effective CI/CD practices and a smooth developer experience

• Establish and refine best practices, tools, and processes for infrastructure and IT

• Serve as a hands-on technical leader, mentoring and coaching team members

• Report directly to the CTO

⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of experience leading cloud infrastructure and IT operations in a SaaS and/or data product environment

• 5+ years of experience building SaaS/data product infrastructure in Azure is preferred

• 3+ years of experience working in early-stage startups

• Strong hands-on expertise with infrastructure-as-code tools, particularly Terraform

• Extensive understanding of architectures that support data platforms and service-oriented systems

• Ability to make quick, appropriately scaled technical decisions

• Capability to support security and compliance requirements while maintaining business productivity

• Proven success in mentoring and developing technical team members

• Experience managing Corporate IT teams

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across diverse teams and stakeholders

• Ability to provide direct support to customers

• Must be authorized to work indefinitely in the US on a full-time basis for any employer
