This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.
• Take ownership and enhance the developer experience across all product engineering teams, focusing on tooling standards, AI harness integration, deployment pipelines, and governance models.
• Establish and maintain platform engineering standards that empower engineering teams to deliver faster and with a higher quality standard.
• Promote the adoption of AI-native SDLC practices throughout the organization, collaborating with engineering managers to gauge and enhance development velocity.
• Build and oversee the Platform Engineering team, which includes a Senior Platform Engineer and an SRE/DevOps Lead.
• Cultivate engineering talent and foster a culture within the platform function centered around reliability, craftsmanship, and automation-first thinking.
• Manage the reliability posture of the platform, including uptime SLOs, on-call frameworks, incident response protocols, and a culture of postmortem analysis.
• Set up telemetry, observability, and alerting standards across all product lines, utilizing tools such as DataDog, CloudWatch, and PagerDuty.
• Actively engage in FMG's AI engineering transformation, which encompasses the development of agentic tools and AI-assisted QA and testing.
• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a minimum of 5 years in leadership roles related to platform engineering, DevOps, or SRE.
• Proven experience in building or scaling a platform engineering function, from establishing standards to team growth.
• Strong expertise in cloud infrastructure (primarily AWS, with GCP as a secondary focus), CI/CD pipelines, and contemporary deployment practices.
• Practical experience with observability tools such as DataDog, CloudWatch, PagerDuty, or similar technologies.
• Experience in leading and developing engineering teams, including hiring, mentoring, and setting technical direction.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of translating platform strategy for non-technical stakeholders and advocating for investment.
• A proven history of successful project delivery, holding teams accountable while effectively removing obstacles to progress.
