This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.
• Conduct a comprehensive audit of infrastructure, security measures, vendor accounts, and IT operations to pinpoint gaps and quick wins.
• Assume responsibility for all vendor relationships and facilitate account transfers from the prior director.
• Forge working relationships with each engineering team, as well as Finance, Legal, and Customer Success departments.
• Evaluate and enhance incident response protocols and cybersecurity monitoring (using tools like Datadog SIEM and Cloudflare).
• Assess and stabilize IT operations, focusing on support SLAs and the endpoint management program.
• Lead vendor rationalization efforts, reviewing over 30 tools (with $229K in immediate savings and $1.2M under evaluation). Take charge of decision-making and implementation.
• Implement enhancements to our compliance program (SOC 2 Type II, GLBA) and oversee the upcoming audit cycle.
• Optimize cloud infrastructure costs and performance across our AWS organization, which includes multiple accounts, ECS Fargate, and Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Enhance sandbox and environment management for customer implementations, ensuring credit unions have secure and reliable sandbox environments for onboarding.
• Define and initiate the execution of the team structure and hiring strategy for your organization.
• Establish a fully staffed and functioning Platform Engineering organization with clearly defined ownership boundaries.
• Advance cloud security and data protection strategies, including improvements to data segregation and encryption per partner (AES-256, FIPS 140-2 Level 3).
• Spearhead a company-wide security awareness initiative and cultivate a security-first culture within engineering teams.
• Drive automation and tooling enhancements that significantly reduce manual effort for the broader engineering organization.
• Own and present the platform roadmap, including infrastructure scaling strategies for the upcoming 12 months.
• Over 8 years of experience in platform engineering, infrastructure, and/or security leadership, ideally within B2B SaaS or fintech sectors.
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing infrastructure, security, and IT teams in a dynamic environment.
• Extensive knowledge of AWS (ECS Fargate, Aurora PostgreSQL, IAM, KMS, S3, VPC) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Terragrunt).
• Strong understanding of security frameworks and compliance standards such as SOC 2 Type II, GLBA, CCPA, and preferably PCI DSS.
• Experience in vendor management and budget optimization on a large scale.
• Outstanding communication and stakeholder management abilities, collaborating effectively with engineering, finance, legal, and customer-facing teams.
