This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +3 more states.
• Develop JMA’s Organizing Methodology.
• Expand JMA’s organizing approach and philosophy to bolster successful campaigns.
• Establish procedures for building, structuring, and evaluating our coalitions; engaging and assessing workers; and interacting with community leaders and organizations.
• Standardize assessments and data practices for workers and coalitions across JMA, utilizing Action Builder for worker organizing and Salesforce for coalition organizing.
• Produce training materials and educate staff on these methodologies and processes.
• Enhance our understanding of power dynamics in our organizing efforts.
• Ensure JMA organizers and directors can effectively merge research, policy, and communications strategies with organizing initiatives.
• Implement intentional considerations of race, gender, and other identity-related oppressions in our organizing practices.
• Collaborate with regional teams (alongside research, policy, and communications programs) to create multi-dimensional campaigns aimed at achieving enforceable pro-worker policies and agreements between communities and manufacturers through community benefits agreements.
• Partner with JMA’s affiliated unions to foster a culture of continuous learning regarding organizing methods on JMA campaigns, including co-developing strategies, messaging, and campaign plans; creating collaboration systems for JMA and union organizers; and identifying partnership opportunities.
• Design a curriculum for JMA’s organizers, encompassing onboarding for new hires, training of new organizers, and upskilling seasoned organizers.
• Create resources to instruct organizers on forming effective community coalitions and engaging workers in campaigns to secure community benefits agreements.
• Conduct periodic training workshops for new and current organizers, focusing on practical skills and strategic thinking development.
• Mentor JMA program directors, assistant program directors, and campaign managers in supervising organizers.
• Frequently check in, debrief, and provide constructive feedback to JMA organizers, as well as participate in evaluations conducted by their supervisors.
• Travel to provide coaching for organizers in the field and collaborate with campaign teams and program directors to devise campaign strategies and enhance organizing skills.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in labor, community, and/or coalition organizing.
• At least 5 years of experience supervising organizers and leading them through campaigns.
• Proven experience in building coalitions across diverse stakeholders.
• Background in organizing workers.
• Familiarity with data management systems for tracking contacts; experience with Action Builder is advantageous.
