Director of Measurement Strategy

Posted 5 days ago

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Act as the senior strategist for measurement and instrumentation on designated client accounts, leading consulting discussions on attribution methodologies, channel event instrumentation (including Meta’s Conversions API, Google Enhanced Conversions, and MMPs such as AppsFlyer or Adjust), tag management, and analytics architecture.

• Conduct audits of each client’s current measurement stack, which includes channel pixels, server-side events, MMP setups, conversion APIs, web and app analytics, as well as CRM and eCommerce integrations, producing a comprehensive written assessment that highlights gaps, data quality issues, and opportunities for growth.

• Convert audit results into a prioritized measurement plan that outlines success criteria and sequences deliverables for the Growth Engineering and Growth Pod teams to implement.

• Serve as the in-room expert during client measurement reviews, quarterly business reviews (QBRs), and escalations that involve data discrepancies, attribution disputes, and inquiries regarding reporting.

• Oversee the complete project management for analytics and measurement workstreams during the onboarding of new clients, including scoping, timeline management, stakeholder alignment, tracking dependencies, identifying risks, and reporting on status.

• Facilitate requirements-gathering sessions with client marketing, analytics, engineering, and data teams to capture data sources, business definitions, KPI hierarchies, and reporting expectations.

• Manage the integration of Headlight’s reporting and BI infrastructure (BigQuery, dbt, Looker) with each client’s data environment, which includes channel APIs, CRM, Shopify, MMP, and warehouse exports.

• Propel cross-functional onboarding execution across Growth Engineering, Growth Pods, and Client Services to ensure new clients achieve a steady-state reporting and measurement posture punctually.

• Effectively communicate with three distinct audiences: the Analytics and Engineering team (technical implementation), the Growth team (campaign optimization), and the client (business outcomes and strategic goals).

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years in digital marketing, marketing analytics, marketing technology, or marketing measurement, with at least 2 of those years in a client-facing, consultative, or strategic role. Experience in agency settings, ad-tech vendors, MMPs, or in-house performance marketing is highly preferred.

• In-depth, hands-on knowledge of the marketing measurement stack, including channel conversion APIs (Meta CAPI, Google Enhanced Conversions, TikTok Events API), MMPs (AppsFlyer, Adjust, Branch), tag managers (GTM), web and app analytics, as well as concepts of multi-touch attribution (MTA) and incrementality, along with awareness of common pitfalls.

• Proven experience leading measurement and analytics discussions directly with client stakeholders, including marketing leaders, in-house analytics teams, engineering counterparts, and executives, demonstrating a capacity to align those stakeholders.

• Evidence of successful project management for technical onboarding, integrations, and measurement implementations from start to finish across various stakeholders.

• Strong proficiency in SQL, sufficient to read, critique, and occasionally write analytical queries against a data warehouse, along with enough Python literacy to understand and discuss pipeline code, debug payloads, and engage in credible technical conversations with engineers. You will not be the primary author of pipelines; rather, you will ensure that the appropriate pipelines are constructed.

• Basic understanding of web technologies, including HTTP, cookies, event flows between browser-to-server and server-to-server, REST APIs, and the fundamentals of HTML/CSS/JS, adequate for diagnosing instrumentation issues competently.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, enabling the production of clear measurement plans, audit documents, status updates, and narratives suitable for executive audiences.

• Proven ability to work semi-autonomously in a fast-paced, remote environment.
