Director of International Operations and Logistics

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Spearhead the strategy, execution, and enhancement of international operations in all markets outside the US.

• Take ownership of international fulfillment, cross-border freight, duties and compliance, carrier performance, and readiness for market expansion.

• Oversee international 3PL and freight partners, ensuring they meet contracted SLAs, KPIs, and quality standards.

• Manage the DDP versus DDU strategy, ensuring HS code accuracy and duty/tax compliance across various shipping regions.

• Collaborate with CX, Planning, Merchandising, Marketing, and Tech teams to synchronize international priorities with company goals.

• Evaluate shipping costs, on-time delivery, cancellations, and return metrics to detect trends and opportunities for improvement.

• Lead, mentor, and develop the international operations team, promoting accountability and ongoing enhancement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience in international ecommerce operations, global logistics, cross-border freight, or supply chain management.

• Demonstrated success in leading international 3PL, carrier, and freight partner relationships on a large scale.

• Comprehensive understanding of cross-border duties, taxes (VAT/IOSS), customs regulations, and DDP/DDU strategies.

• Proven experience in launching new international markets from start to finish (including systems, carriers, compliance, and launch planning).

• Strong commercial insight with experience managing landed costs, cost to serve, and profit margin levers.

• Advanced skills in Excel/Sheets; familiarity with BI tools (Looker, Tableau, Power BI) and OMS/WMS platforms is advantageous.

• Experience in a fast-paced ecommerce or retail setting; experience with Shopify is a plus.

• Exceptional leadership, coaching, and team development abilities with a proven history of building high-performing global teams.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the capacity to influence stakeholders across various regions and time zones.
