Director of Infrastructure Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Lead, mentor, and develop a multi-site team of 5-10 engineers while actively engaging in architecture, technical direction, and daily development tasks.

• Set both immediate deliverables and long-term strategies for Outschool’s complete Infrastructure stack, including pinpointing and investing in opportunities for infrastructure upgrades, platform integration, and AI enablement when suitable.

• Collaborate across functions with Product, Design, Data, Marketing, and Operations to create outstanding systems and experiences.

• Work alongside senior leadership to ensure alignment on strategy, metrics, and priorities.

• Advocate for technical excellence and foster a culture of high ownership, offering mentorship, constructive feedback, and support for the professional development of the engineers on your team.

• Promote the adoption of AI-development principles and agentic engineering workflows throughout the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in software engineering.

• More than 5 years of engineering management experience leading medium-sized teams, with proven expertise in performance management, career development, and personnel logistics.

• Strong foundation in infrastructure and platform engineering, with extensive knowledge of AWS, Postgres, Kubernetes, Redshift, Terraform, Cloudwatch, among others.

• Familiarity with full-stack development, utilizing a mix of TypeScript, React, Node.js, GraphQL, and PostgreSQL.

• Knowledgeable in AI-native development paradigms and capable of guiding teams through AI transformation processes.

• Proven track record of managing multiple parallel projects from planning through execution to timely delivery.

• Ability to align team objectives with business goals and contribute to strategic planning efforts.

• Experience in recruiting, hiring, and onboarding software engineers.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with excellent stakeholder management abilities.
