This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of the internal technology landscape from start to finish and lead the team responsible for its operation.
• Report directly to the Chief Information Officer.
• Establish the internal technology strategy and build a team to execute it effectively.
• Develop and manage a multi-year internal technology roadmap that includes governance, standards, and architecture review processes.
• Align technology investments with business outcomes and establish success metrics.
• Design the internal IT function, create headcount business cases, recruit, and nurture the team.
• Determine the balance between internal and partner/MSP delivery and ensure partners adhere to service level agreements.
• Manage the internal IT budget, forecasting, software licenses, SaaS rationalization, renewals, negotiations, and contract terms.
• Establish and enhance IT service management processes across intake, incident, problem, request, and change management.
• Develop the service catalog, service levels, ownership roles, on-call responsibilities, and escalation processes.
• Publish operational metrics to minimize employee friction.
• Oversee onboarding and offboarding technology experiences in collaboration with HR.
• Manage enterprise identity, including Microsoft 365, Entra ID, SSO, conditional access, and access reviews.
• Oversee endpoint management, configuration baselines, patching, and device lifecycle management.
• Govern Teams, SharePoint, and Exchange usage.
• Manage the internal network architecture, including remote access and secure connectivity.
• Oversee internal cloud and hosting services, backup, recovery, and business continuity plans.
• Lead internal AI use-case development, implementation, training, and measurement of adoption.
• Collaborate with the AI practice to ensure internal use informs client-facing services.
• Develop AI unit-cost models, forecast consumption, negotiate commitments and reserved capacity, and evaluate productivity improvements.
• Partner with security leadership to manage the IT execution aspect of the security program.
• Facilitate SOC 2 and ISO audit readiness, including evidence collection and control operations.
• Manage vulnerability identification and remediation processes.
• Define and enforce device posture and access requirements.
• Over 10 years of experience in information technology, including significant time spent leading teams or managing a technology function.
• Demonstrated experience in building and scaling internal IT within a distributed or remote-first organization during rapid growth phases.
• Ability to present technology strategy, investment proposals, risks, and operational metrics to executive leadership effectively.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 and Entra ID, endpoint management (Intune or equivalent), and large-scale SaaS administration.
• Proven track record in internal AI adoption and governance, including policy creation, data handling, and change management.
• Strong understanding of security concepts and the ability to collaborate effectively with a CISO, translating risk into business terms for executive stakeholders.
• Experience in a solutions provider, MSP, or consulting environment is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with audit processes, SOC 2, or other regulated compliance requirements.
• Experience in vendor, MSP, and contract negotiations, including budget management responsibilities.
• Strong communication skills for articulating technical trade-offs to both technical and executive audiences, both verbally and in writing.
• Relevant certifications such as ITIL, Microsoft, CISSP/CISM, PMP, or equivalent are valued but not mandatory.
