This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Act as the primary finance leader for property assignments during task force engagements.
• Set immediate priorities and ensure continuity across finance and accounting operations.
• Direct the processes for month-end and year-end financial closures.
• Guarantee prompt and precise financial statements along with comprehensive and well-supported balance-sheet reconciliations.
• Examine balance-sheet accounts and address any aging or unsupported items.
• Manage general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, income auditing, payroll coordination, purchasing, cash management, credit, and banking controls.
• Assess control environments and accounting processes, implementing sustainable enhancements.
• Prepare and review budgets, forecasts, cash-flow projections, variance analyses, and other financial reports.
• Collaborate with General Managers, Executive Committees, department heads, and corporate Finance to evaluate performance and enhance profitability.
• Assist in owner reporting, audits, tax and licensing compliance, capital planning, and other property or corporate requests.
• Develop repeatable processes and documentation to enhance accuracy, mitigate risks, and reinforce accountability.
• Lead, mentor, and develop members of the property Finance team.
• Facilitate onboarding and the transition to permanent Finance leadership.
• Aid in portfolio balance-sheet evaluations, reconciliations, cash-flow analyses, pre-opening budgets, process improvement initiatives, and Finance Operations projects during assignments.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• A minimum of five years of progressive finance and accounting experience in hotels or hospitality, including leadership roles.
• A solid understanding of accounting principles, USALI 12th Edition, financial reporting, month-end closures, balance-sheet reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and internal controls.
• Previous experience as a Director of Finance, Assistant Director of Finance, Controller, or similar senior finance leader in the hotel sector is strongly preferred.
• Capability to quickly assess unfamiliar operations, establish priorities, resolve issues, and produce accurate work in dynamic environments.
• Experience in leading and developing property Finance teams and collaborating with General Managers, department leaders, owners, auditors, and corporate stakeholders.
• Familiarity with hotel financial and operational systems, including general-ledger, reporting, property management, point-of-sale, purchasing, payroll, and accounts payable systems.
• Strong focus on processes, analytical judgment, attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently from a productive home-office environment and travel frequently, including extended assignments on property, as business needs dictate.
• Experience in luxury, lifestyle, resort, multi-property management, openings, transitions, conversions, or task force roles is preferred.
• CPA, CMA, CHAE, or another relevant professional certification is preferred.
