Director of Engineering, Materials

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the delivery process for materials estimation, vendor/supplier integrations, and the materials marketplace — encompassing execution and platform strategy.

• Lead and nurture Engineering managers along with a growing team of engineers, fostering the culture and operational framework for the Materials organization.

• Ensure predictable and reliable shipping by establishing clear priorities and fostering strong cross-functional alignment among Product, Sales, and Customer Success teams.

• Collaborate with Product to define and implement the materials marketplace roadmap — including supplier onboarding, catalog and SKU integrations, enhancements to estimating workflows, and expansion of the BOM API.

• Represent the engineering team in discussions with external suppliers and vendors, influencing relationships that impact the development and adoption of our platform.

• Recruit, onboard, and mentor engineers as the materials program continues to scale.

• Adapt team structure and ownership boundaries as new surfaces emerge from early-stage initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in engineering management, including the oversight of Engineering Managers and the establishment of teams from the ground up.

• A proven history of identifying and enhancing delivery processes in intricate, cross-functional settings.

• Experience managing a product area from start to finish in collaboration with Product partners, exerting genuine influence over priorities and trade-offs.

• Confidence in leading within a new domain — building trust rapidly through effective processes, curiosity, and consistent follow-through.
