This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of delivery across three distinct product lines, encompassing roadmap tracking, release coordination, cross-team dependencies, and risk escalation.
• Create a unified source of truth for visibility and accountability in engineering delivery.
• Develop and oversee a structured incident and on-call program across multiple time zones, ensuring thorough follow-through on postmortems.
• Define, instrument, and automate reporting on engineering KPIs, including cycle time, lead time for changes, deployment frequency, change failure rate, MTTR, escaped defects, uptime against SLOs, and team health.
• Convert engineering signals into actionable insights for leadership.
• Collaborate with the Director of Product on capacity modeling, roadmap commitments, and trade-offs.
• Lead staffing and capacity planning efforts across all three product lines.
• Work alongside Product and Finance on headcount forecasting.
• Ensure that projects are fully staffed prior to commencement and halt projects that lack adequate staffing.
• Directly manage and cultivate engineering managers and leads.
• Oversee hiring, onboarding, and performance management processes.
• Establish a consistent management layer across various geographies.
• Promote the adoption and governance of agentic coding tools during planning, implementation, and review phases.
• Set standards for human review, code provenance, security review, intellectual property, and data handling.
• Measure the returns of AI-assisted development in collaboration with the executive AI sponsor.
• Balance fully loaded costs against delivery outcomes, such as cycle time and quality.
• Communicate delivery impact through metrics like shipped work, cycle time, quality, and AI ROI.
• Redirect VP of Engineering capacity towards architecture and MVP development.
• A minimum of 10 years in software engineering, with at least 3 years in a Director role or in senior engineering management.
• Experience in managing delivery across multiple concurrent products.
• Proven track record in leading distributed global teams, including oversight of managers.
• Strong technical expertise, with a background in shipping software and independently assessing system design and technical risk.
• Rigorous program and operations management skills.
• Proficient hands-on experience with GitHub, including Projects, Actions, and workflow design.
• Leadership experience in migrations is highly preferred.
• Working knowledge of AI coding tools and a clear perspective on their effects on review practices and quality control.
• Familiarity with engineering metrics, including their instrumentation, interpretation, and practices to prevent gaming.
• Exceptional executive communication skills that translate engineering execution into business outcomes.
• A history of collaborative partnerships with a Director or Head of Product.
• Preferred experience in scale-up growth environments.
• Experience with blended FTE and contractor staffing models is preferred.
• Familiarity with GovTech is a plus.
• A background across multiple domains is preferred.
