This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Establish the pace and elevate standards. Set clear objectives, navigate through uncertainty, and ensure the team is accountable for delivering impactful work with exceptional quality.
• Collaborate with product and design teams to shape the roadmap, make informed trade-offs, and ensure engineering continuously supports business needs.
• Create scalable engineering processes, including sprint rhythms, incident response protocols, and code review standards.
• Proactively identify risks and drive them to resolution.
• Lead and nurture your team at all levels, offering coaching, career development, and performance evaluations. Hold managers responsible for their team's productivity while equally investing in the growth of each direct report.
• Foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement, enabling engineers to do some of the finest work of their careers.
• Uphold a high standard for talent; define excellence and maintain that benchmark.
• Recognize and cultivate future engineering leaders.
• Provide architectural guidance across your teams, ensuring systems are scalable, sustainable, and built for longevity.
• Advocate for best practices in code quality, observability, testing, and system design.
• Stay engaged with the technical work to build trust, identify issues early, and provide constructive feedback.
• Lead by example with AI development tools, setting clear expectations for the team to follow suit.
• Assess and implement AI tools that enhance developer efficiency, code quality, and product functionality.
• Cultivate a team culture that views AI as a genuine productivity enhancer rather than a gimmick.
• Assist in defining House Rx's strategy for responsible and impactful AI application in engineering.
• Over 7 years of experience in software engineering, with a minimum of 3 years in engineering management, preferably with experience in managing managers or overseeing multiple teams.
• You are a proactive leader. You set the vision, act with urgency, hold yourself and others accountable, and take initiative to solve problems.
• Demonstrated success in building and retaining high-performing teams in dynamic, product-driven environments.
• Strong full-stack expertise. You can engage in discussions about architectural decisions throughout the stack (Node.js, TypeScript, React, Postgres, AWS).
• Comfortable reviewing system designs, providing insightful feedback, and making architectural decisions when necessary.
• Experience guiding teams through challenging technical scenarios: scaling systems, managing technical debt, and adapting to platform changes.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
