
Director of Data Science Production Engineering – Extended-Hours Support

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead and guide a team of over 10 ExHS data science support engineers and analysts.
• Provide timely and precise data analytics support for production, product management, laboratory operations, the laboratory director, and genetic counseling teams.
• Implement operational procedures to ensure compliance, quality, and efficiency.
• Assess, report, and continuously enhance the operational effectiveness of the team.
• Oversee the team during critical production incidents or emergency situations, both during and outside standard business hours.
• Create and maintain technologies that enhance operational visibility and efficiency.
• Manage and implement analytics workflows on Snowflake and AWS infrastructure, including Redshift, Athena, Batch, EC2, and S3.
• Ensure adherence to CLIA, FDA, and internal quality management standards.
• Provide training and coaching to team members on technologies, procedures, guidelines, and best practices.
• Identify and implement improvement initiatives within the DSPE ExHS team and across DSPE teams.
• Represent ExHS teams in stakeholder meetings and manage their expectations effectively.
• Establish regular reporting mechanisms for stakeholders.
• Convert complex analytical results into actionable recommendations for cross-functional partners.
• A Master's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Operations Research is required; Doctorate degrees are advantageous.
• A minimum of 8 years of relevant industry experience with a Master's degree (or at least 4 years with a Doctorate).
• At least 3 years of experience in a highly regulated environment (CLIA and/or FDA compliant settings).
• Minimum of 3 years of management experience leading medium-sized teams in production support or operational roles.
• Working knowledge of diagnostic laboratory business processes and genomic/bioinformatics technologies.
• Proficient in data analysis and statistical methods.
• Skilled in Python and SQL development.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake platform technologies and AWS cloud analytics tools (Redshift, Athena, Batch, EC2, S3).
• Proven experience in developing operational dashboards and analytical tools using AWS QuickSight, Streamlit, or similar platforms.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to navigate operational uncertainties, create structure in areas of ambiguity, and directly address production bottlenecks.
