Director of Culinary Operations – Food Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Evaluate products, menus, recipes, and suppliers through data analysis, reports, and remote evidence assessments.

• Identify and guide solutions for taste, consistency, and food-safety issues with the on-site Head Chef and local teams.

• Develop controlled recipes and process standards that include clear tolerances and version management.

• Spearhead menu engineering by addressing, repositioning, or eliminating underperforming items.

• Implement food-safety and traceability measures, including conducting root-cause analyses on failures.

• Recruit, train, and nurture culinary leaders across various locations remotely.

• Manage the culinary aspects related to food costs, waste, and profit margins.

• Create systems, standards, and leadership practices that ensure consistent quality across all locations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive senior culinary leadership experience in a complex, multi-location setting.

• Demonstrated capability to restore product quality and establish repeatable systems — not merely proficient in cooking.

• Proficient in leading and managing kitchen operations remotely, through on-site leaders.

• In-depth understanding of food costs, yield, and labor economics.

• Experience in food safety and quality assurance.

• Advanced, practical proficiency with AI and data tools for culinary management.

• Experience managing across multiple concepts, cuisines, or service periods (bonus).

• Experience directing culinary teams remotely or across different locations (bonus).

• Background in beverage operations or dining services (bonus).

• Proven track record in building training and succession pipelines for culinary teams (bonus).

• Ability to effectively lead and influence kitchen teams without being physically present.

• Capacity to balance high culinary standards with sound commercial judgment.
