This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Oversee the planning, design coordination, and execution of construction for owned and flagship locations, which includes new ground-up developments, multistory mixed-use projects, core and shell/base-building scopes, and interior fit-outs.

• Act as the hands-on expert in construction methods, processes, and sequencing.

• Assess architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings and address any constructability challenges.

• Take full ownership of the project lifecycle from site due diligence and entitlement through permitting, construction, and store opening.

• Manage the project scope, schedule, budget, and risks across multiple concurrent projects.

• Navigate through ambiguous or evolving project scenarios and create practical solutions under budget and time constraints.

• Build, lead, and coordinate efforts among internal partners as well as external architects, engineers, general contractors, and specialized consultants.

• Collaborate with Real Estate, Store Design, Visual Merchandising, Facilities, Legal, and Finance teams.

• Foster relationships with landlords, developers, project management consultants, contractors, and municipal representatives.

• Effectively communicate technical details to senior leadership and guide contractors, consultants, and building officials.

• Provide consistent updates to senior leadership on project status, risks, and mitigation strategies.

• Serve as the primary liaison with plan reviewers, inspectors, and permitting authorities.

• Develop, negotiate, and manage project budgets and construction contracts, including GMP, lump sum, and CM-at-risk agreements.

• Lead the selection of contractors and vendors, including RFP development, bid analysis, and negotiations.

• Monitor project costs, identify opportunities for cost savings, and resolve any financial issues.

• Track financial performance to ensure budget compliance and accurate forecasting.

• Ensure that projects adhere to design and quality standards and comply with local codes, zoning, and regulations.

• Advocate for job site safety standards and ensure accountability among contractors and consultants.

• Stay updated on current construction methods, materials, codes, and market trends.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.

• Over 10 years of progressive experience in construction and project management, specifically in direct, hands-on delivery of ground-up, multistory, mixed-use, and core & shell projects.

• Strong preference for experience in retail, hospitality, or brand-driven store development; experience with owned real estate and flagship-format projects is highly advantageous.

• Ability to independently read, assess, and intelligently discuss architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings and specifications.

• Proven ability to lead complex, multi-stakeholder projects while managing diverse internal partners and external consultants.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with cross-functional teams, senior leadership, contractors, consultants, and building officials.

• Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, contract negotiation, and cost management.

• Demonstrated practical problem-solving skills and sound judgment in ambiguous situations.

• High level of attention to detail and a commitment to quality and brand standards.

• A collaborative, adaptable, and results-focused leadership approach.

• Willingness and ability to travel to project sites as needed.

• Proficiency in English; knowledge of additional languages is a bonus.
