Director of Communications

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Create and implement comprehensive communication strategies to promote organizational goals and influence external narratives.

• Manage both proactive and reactive media interactions, pinpointing emerging issues and opportunities for Onebrief to lead, respond to, or influence discussions.

• Collaborate closely with government relations, legal, marketing, and senior leadership to convert complex topics into clear and impactful communications.

• Supervise the creation, approval, and distribution of external materials, such as press releases, op-eds, and digital content.

• Lead rapid response initiatives, crafting real-time communications and messaging that align with reputational priorities.

• Build, mentor, and oversee the communications team to ensure quality output, operational discipline, and alignment with company objectives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of relevant experience in strategic communications, executive communications, public affairs, or related disciplines.

• Strong experience in media relations and a proven ability in managing third-party relationships.

• Experience in directing rapid response efforts and producing written materials aimed at diverse high-level audiences.

• Proven ability to act as a communications adviser to senior leadership on messaging, tone, and reputational risks.

• A successful track record of leading, managing, and developing a communications team while upholding high execution standards.

• Outstanding writing, editing, and storytelling abilities across executive, corporate, media, and social media formats.
