This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +18 more states.
β’ Provide counsel regarding the risks and opportunities associated with proposed commercial actions; interpret intricate legal considerations into practical, solution-focused guidance that aligns with cross-organizational business objectives while safeguarding core legal interests.
β’ Take ownership of all legal elements of deal processes and customer engagements, utilizing insights from Commercial Law, Product & Pricing Strategy, and Data Ownership.
β’ Establish and uphold AI governance frameworks pertaining to commercial legal issues; collaborate with external counsel to ensure that AI-related contract terms, risk postures, and data ownership provisions are legally robust and in accordance with evolving regulatory standards.
β’ Collaborate with go-to-market leaders and finance teams to negotiate enterprise-level customer agreements that facilitate Karat's sales cycles and capacity.
β’ Manage relationships with external counsel regarding commercial and product issues; assess outside counsel performance, coordinate engagement scope, and ensure legal strategies remain aligned with business priorities.
β’ Foster an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives enhance outcomes; advocate for Karat's mission to deliver efficient, effective, and equitable interview experiences.
β’ Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and active bar admission in at least one U.S. state.
β’ Over 10 years of legal experience, with substantial in-house experience; a focus on product law, data privacy, or technology law is highly preferred.
β’ Experience in technology, talent assessment platforms, or professional services/workforce solutions is strongly preferred.
β’ Proven ability to enhance and operationalize legal processes in a high-growth environment, demonstrating a successful history of effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
β’ Exceptional business judgment and the capacity to balance risk and reward, providing pragmatic, solution-oriented advice that safeguards core legal interests while promoting business growth.
β’ Proven experience in defining AI governance frameworks and addressing emerging legal considerations in technology, including data ownership, AI-related contract terms, and adapting to evolving regulatory requirements.
