Director of AI Strategy

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Provide strategic direction and hands-on management of SDFCU’s AI and machine learning projects.

• Create and implement an AI strategy that enhances member engagement, boosts operational efficiency, and mitigates risk.

• Collaborate with business units to identify, prioritize, and implement AI-driven solutions.

• Supervise the design, development, testing, and rollout of AI and machine learning models.

• Lead projects such as intelligent automation, predictive analytics, fraud detection, and personalization engines.

• Establish a scalable AI infrastructure.

• Assess and manage relationships with external AI vendors and fintech partners.

• Ensure seamless integration of AI solutions with core banking systems.

• Maintain compliance with relevant regulations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline is required.

• 8–12 years of progressive experience in AI, machine learning, or data science.

• 3–5 years in a leadership or managerial position.

• Experience in financial services, fintech, or a regulated industry is highly preferred.

• Demonstrated ability to build and lead cross-functional teams.

• Excellent executive communication and presentation skills.

• Capability to balance innovation with risk management and compliance.

• Familiarity with cloud AI platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
