Director of Accounting, AI Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +16 more states.

📋 Description

• Take charge of all facets of accounting operations, including monthly closings, reconciliations, and financial reporting for various portfolio companies.

• Manage the general ledger to ensure precision, consistency, and adherence to GAAP and ASC 606 standards.

• Supervise revenue recognition, contract setup, and billing integrations with platforms such as Stripe and similar services.

• Function at the corporate holding company level while being able to delve into individual portfolio company general ledger systems and processes.

• Design and implement AI agents for accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger reconciliations, thereby reducing manual interventions and shortening close timelines.

• Assess and introduce automation tools that enhance the speed, accuracy, and transparency of financial closings.

• Assist in tax compliance activities as required.

• Support annual audits and the budgeting process as necessary.

• Provide backfill for accounting positions at portfolio companies as needed, delivering hands-on support where the business requires it.

⛳️ Requirements

• CPA certification or equivalent experience in managing audit processes and ensuring ASC 606 compliance.

• 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience within private equity-backed or rapidly growing companies.

• Demonstrated ownership of the financial closing process — you have led it, enhanced it, and fully taken responsibility for the outcomes.

• Practical experience with AI: you have developed automations, deployed agents, or significantly expedited workflows using AI tools.

• Proven track record of implementing and optimizing accounting systems, integrations, and workflow automations.

• Excellent communication skills, enabling you to collaborate effectively with engineering, finance, and go-to-market teams.

• Ability to thrive in uncertain and high-growth environments, where you often establish processes before adhering to them.
