Director, Medical Operations – Doctor of Medicine (MD)

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Provide clinical leadership and oversight for the experience of physicians who place orders.

• Act as the primary medical contact for ordering providers.

• Offer medical guidance to the internal teams supporting ordering physicians.

• Spearhead the creation and enhancement of physician onboarding and ordering processes.

• Identify and resolve clinical and operational challenges that affect physician adoption, usage, and retention.

• Collaborate with Medical Affairs, Laboratory, and commercial cross-functional teams to enhance clinical and operational processes from start to finish.

• Oversee and guide clinical experience initiatives and operational improvement projects.

• Examine physician ordering trends, operational metrics, and feedback to uncover opportunities for process enhancements.

• Serve as a senior clinical and operational resource for ordering physicians facing complex clinical inquiries and escalations.

• Convert physician insights and operational difficulties into actionable recommendations for Medical Affairs and business leadership.

• Lead efforts to enhance specimen quality, turnaround times, ordering efficiency, and the overall physician ordering experience.

• Assess and tackle issues contributing to provider attrition, such as clinical friction, workflow inefficiencies, and ordering challenges.

⛳️ Requirements

• MD degree is mandatory, with clinical training adequate to engage ordering physicians as a credible peer; completion of residency or additional post-graduate clinical training is preferred but not essential.

• Strong comprehension of physician workflows and the clinical decision-making processes and realities faced by ordering providers.

• Credibility to engage with practicing physicians on a peer-to-peer basis.

• Preferred experience in healthcare operations, payer organizations, healthcare consulting, hospital administration, or process improvement roles.

• Proven track record of enhancing healthcare delivery, operational efficiency, or physician experience.

• Strong leadership skills across functions and the ability to manage stakeholders effectively.

• Capability to analyze intricate operational challenges and develop scalable solutions.

• Experience collaborating with medical, operational, and commercial teams is highly preferred.
