This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.
• The Business Development Director serves as a strategic hunter tasked with acquiring new business from targeted medical device OEMs.
• Identify and pursue new strategic medical OEMs that align with PCI’s injection molding and contract manufacturing capabilities.
• Conduct systematic prospecting by utilizing an existing network, market insights, secondary industry connections, conferences, and CRM data to create a qualified target account list.
• Leverage knowledge from prior experience with Medical OEMs and networks to facilitate discussions for future projects.
• Map out customer organizations and engage with key decision-makers in R&D, product development, sourcing, and executive leadership.
• Initiate and steer discovery discussions to identify unmet manufacturing needs and present PCI’s comprehensive solutions.
• Conduct at least 6 face-to-face meetings each month.
• Develop and sustain a high-value, forward-looking pipeline concentrating on new customers and new programs (with a goal of $40M in vetted pipeline opportunities annually).
• Evaluate opportunities based on technical compatibility, available capacity, strategic significance, timelines, and margin potential.
• Drive opportunities from initial contact through DFM, quotation, negotiation, and award processes.
• Maintain precise CRM data, including stage progression, probability, next actions, and closing timelines.
• Exhibit a strong sense of urgency in advancing opportunities and adhering to customer response timelines.
• Position PCI’s complete product lifecycle capabilities, including DFM, tooling/automation strategy, and validation (IQ/OQ/PQ) to production.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations to convert customer product concepts into viable injection molding solutions.
• Assist in developing cost models and pricing strategies that align with target margins and program risk profiles.
• Monitor trends in the medical device sector and other medical verticals to uncover emerging opportunities.
• Create target account lists that align with PCI’s technology roadmap and capacity strategy.
• Provide competitive insights and customer feedback to aid in strategic planning.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field is preferred.
• Over 10 years of business development experience in medical injection molding or contract manufacturing.
• Proven success as a hunter in securing new medical OEM customers.
• Demonstrated capability to prospect and penetrate complex organizations, reaching both technical and executive decision-makers.
• Experience selling in regulated environments (FDA, ISO 13485) with a solid understanding of DFM, tooling, and validation processes.
• Willingness to travel up to 50%.
