Director, Inventory Accounting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Responsible for ensuring the complete accuracy of Inventory and COGS financial statements.

• Manages the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes; guarantees compliance with GAAP and SOX regulations.

• Acts as the main contact for both internal and external auditors regarding inventory valuation and outcomes.

• Leads a comprehensive, multi-tiered team consisting of Senior Managers, Managers, and Analysts.

• Cultivates a strong talent pipeline by mentoring leaders and promoting a culture of high performance and continuous development.

• Accountable for organizational design and resource distribution to accommodate changing business requirements.

• Functions as the principal financial liaison to Vice Presidents and Senior Vice Presidents in Merchandising, Operations, and Supply Chain.

• Converts complex financial outcomes (such as shrink trends or margin effects) into actionable business insights.

• Collaborates with IT leadership to advocate for financial necessities in enterprise-wide system implementations.

• Leads the strategic direction for financial systems transformation.

• Drives the initiative to transition the team's focus from "detective" manual tasks to "preventative" engineering and automated oversight.

• Promotes the adoption of emerging technologies (AI, Machine Learning, Robotics) to improve efficiency and analytical capabilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.

• Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.

• CPA is highly preferred; extensive knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles is required.

• Over 10 years of progressive experience in Finance or Accounting, ideally within the retail sector, with specialized knowledge of both the Retail Inventory Method and Cost Accounting.

• Proven track record of leading large teams through major organizational or system changes.

• Strong executive presence with the capability to influence senior leadership and manage complex cross-functional conflicts.

• In-depth knowledge of SAP S/4HANA and contemporary data analytics infrastructure (GBQ/SQL).
