This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey, +1 more state.
• This role is a strategic leadership position for an individual who operates with a network-oriented mindset and a sense of urgency.
• You will create the comprehensive logistics plan, lead a high-performing global team, and propel the three key pillars that shape our logistics objectives.
• Develop and take ownership of the global master shipping plan across various plants, distribution centers, and customers, ensuring timely delivery, reduced lead times, and a streamlined logistics framework.
• Oversee decisions regarding direct ship versus DC-managed SKU segmentation, balancing service, cost, and inventory trade-offs within the network.
• Propel initiatives for lane and carrier rationalization to simplify network complexity, eliminate redundancy, and decrease overall logistics costs.
• Design and execute network strategies that facilitate regional growth in North America, EMEA, and APAC.
• Collaborate with Sales, Operations, and Supply Chain Planning to convert demand and inventory strategies into logistics network requirements.
• Establish and manage freight spend analytics and network performance reporting to support data-driven optimization decisions.
• Develop and maintain contingency playbooks to ensure DwyerOmega continues shipping amid disruptions.
• Implement strategies for multi-source carrier and lane redundancy to eliminate single points of failure in critical trade lanes.
• Define and uphold risk-tiered safety stock positioning at essential logistics nodes to buffer against supply chain shocks.
• Lead scenario planning and logistics stress testing activities to uncover vulnerabilities and confirm response readiness.
• Build and sustain relationships with strategic carriers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to ensure priority access during tight market conditions.
• Create and execute a global logistics sustainability roadmap in alignment with DwyerOmega’s corporate ESG objectives.
• Spearhead modal shift initiatives to adopt lower-emission transport options when operationally feasible, including intermodal, rail, and sea-air conversions.
• Integrate ESG performance criteria into carrier selection, RFP evaluations, and contract terms.
• Establish emissions tracking and reporting capabilities by lane and shipment, facilitating accurate Scope 3 carbon accounting.
• Hold accountability for the logistics function’s customs compliance, import/export controls, and cross-border regulatory requirements.
• Act as the primary logistics partner to the Trade Compliance and Legal teams.
• Supervise the classification, valuation, and documentation of goods for all international shipments.
• Promote continuous improvement in trade compliance processes, documentation accuracy, and broker performance to minimize duty exposure, clearance delays, and regulatory risks.
• Lead global freight procurement efforts, including RFPs, carrier negotiations, and contract management across all transport modes such as parcel, LTL, FTL, air, and ocean.
• Develop and sustain a preferred carrier program with clearly defined performance standards.
• 12+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain management.
• 5+ years of senior leadership experience overseeing global logistics operations across multiple regions.
• Proven success in designing and optimizing international logistics networks covering NA, EMEA, and APAC.
• A strong track record in leading freight procurement, carrier management, and logistics cost reduction initiatives.
• Hands-on experience in managing customs compliance, import/export controls, and cross-border trade regulations across various jurisdictions.
• Familiarity with working closely with Trade Compliance and Legal functions on regulatory issues, audits, and policy alignment.
• Experience in developing logistics resilience frameworks and navigating significant supply chain disruptions.
• Background in ESG reporting, sustainable logistics, or emissions tracking programs.
• Proficiency with TMS and logistics visibility platforms.
• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, business, or a related field.
• A master’s degree or MBA is preferred.
• Extensive knowledge across all freight modes: parcel, LTL, FTL, ocean, and air.
• Strong working knowledge of global trade compliance, including HTS classification, country of origin, duty management, export controls, and sanctions screening.
• Ability to interpret complex regulatory and tariff developments into clear logistics and commercial implications.
• Proficient in strategic network design, capable of modeling trade-offs between cost, service, and resilience.
• Advanced analytical and financial skills, with experience in freight spending, duty costs, and logistics P&L management.
• Knowledgeable in Scope 3 emissions measurement, ESG frameworks, and sustainable transport alternatives.
• Capacity to create contingency plans and lead decisively through logistics disruptions.
• Strong leadership and talent development abilities to build and inspire global, cross-cultural teams.
• Exceptional communication skills and executive presence, comfortable presenting strategy, compliance risks, and performance metrics to senior leadership.
