Director, Financial Risk

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Lead and guide a high-performing group of people managers and individual contributors across all Financial Risk sectors.

• Create and uphold effective decision governance structures for key business choices that have a Financial Risk impact.

• Provide constructive challenge regarding decisions that affect financial risk.

• Supervise and propose frameworks for evaluating and quantifying financial risk appetite.

• Direct governance related to financial risk policies, including credit policy across various product portfolios.

• Manage short- and long-term forecasts for delinquency and loss.

• Collaborate with Finance and Treasury teams to develop and implement forecasting frameworks for market and liquidity risk.

• Propel portfolio risk monitoring, reporting, and insight generation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in financial risk management, with a significant focus on retail credit risk and/or treasury/financial risk management.

• Demonstrated experience in managing people managers and leading high-performing analytical teams.

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Engineering) or equivalent practical experience.

• Extensive knowledge of IFRS 9 standards, ECL methodologies, and stress testing frameworks.

• Understanding of market and liquidity risk principles.

• Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the skill to convert complex data into actionable strategic insights.

• Strong capability to communicate intricate risk concepts to non-technical stakeholders and senior executive leadership.

• A "builder" mentality—you excel in cross-functional settings and can effectively influence peers in Product, Finance, and Tech.
