Director, Equipment Application & Fleet Solutions

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Perform on-site application evaluations at client locations, including areas such as material handling equipment, docks, aisles, staging zones, production areas, rack configurations, traffic patterns, load profiles, and shift activities.

• Collect facility information through direct observation, measurements, photography, video, telematics, and operational data to support actionable fleet recommendations.

• Clearly communicate findings and suggestions to customer stakeholders, which includes warehouse leaders, operations teams, and executive decision-makers.

• Identify the appropriate equipment for the application, such as forklifts, reach trucks, pallet jacks, order pickers, AGVs, and associated material handling equipment.

• Maintain comprehensive, unbiased knowledge of major OEMs and material handling equipment categories I through VII.

• Develop and uphold a standardized specification library and decision-making tools that assist account management teams in creating consistent solutions more efficiently.

• Collaborate with account management teams during strategic customer visits, prospect walkthroughs, and business reviews to provide technical credibility and enhance consultative selling.

• Act as the primary equipment resource for account management teams, aiding in solution development, customer meetings, and addressing technical objections both in-person and remotely.

• Educate account management teams on equipment fundamentals, application principles, and methods for positioning fleet solutions based on customer requirements.

• Collaborate with Supplier Management on vendor programs, pricing alignment, OEM pricing comparisons, and market trends.

• Partner with Operations and Service teams to evaluate actual equipment performance against specification expectations.

• Provide leadership with insights on equipment trends, OEM performance, automation, telematics, alternative power sources, and other emerging technologies.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience with material handling equipment in a dealer, OEM, or large end-user fleet setting.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, a related field, or equivalent work experience.

• Demonstrated experience in application engineering, fleet consulting, or equipment sales engineering with a solid field-based track record.

• Profound understanding of MHE categories I through VII, warehouse operations, facility layouts, and equipment applications.

• Capability to interpret facility drawings and rack layouts and analyze operational data such as throughput, utilization, hour meters, and telematics.

• Strong analytical abilities, including proficiency with Excel, fleet management platforms, and customer data.

• Skill in translating technical details into clear, business-oriented discussions with customers and internal teams.

• Willingness and ability to travel 60% or more, including overnight travel.

• Valid driver’s license and the ability to fly domestically without restrictions.

• Familiarity with AGV/AMR automation, lithium-ion power, warehouse management systems, and emerging fleet technologies.

• Experience in Six Sigma, Lean, industrial engineering, equipment leasing, or equipment financing.
