Director, Equipment Application – Fleet Solutions

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Perform on-site application assessments at customer locations, including evaluating material handling equipment, docks, aisles, staging areas, production zones, rack configurations, traffic patterns, load profiles, and shift activities.

• Collect facility information through direct observation, measurements, photographs, videos, telematics, and operational data to facilitate effective fleet recommendations.

• Clearly communicate findings and suggestions to customer stakeholders, such as warehouse leaders, operations teams, and executive decision-makers.

• Identify the appropriate equipment for the application, which may include forklifts, reach trucks, pallet jacks, order pickers, AGVs, and other related material handling equipment.

• Maintain comprehensive, brand-neutral knowledge of major OEMs and material handling equipment classifications I through VII.

• Create and sustain a standardized specification library and decision-making tools that assist account management teams in delivering consistent solutions more efficiently.

• Accompany account management teams on strategic customer visits, site walkthroughs, and business reviews to provide technical expertise and bolster consultative selling.

• Act as the primary equipment resource for account management teams, aiding in solution development, customer interactions, and addressing technical concerns both onsite and remotely.

• Educate account management teams on equipment fundamentals, application principles, and how to effectively position fleet solutions based on customer requirements.

• Collaborate with Supplier Management on vendor programs, pricing strategies, OEM pricing comparisons, and market insights.

• Partner with Operations and Service teams to evaluate actual equipment performance against specification expectations.

• Provide leadership with insights on equipment trends, OEM performance, automation, telematics, alternative power solutions, and other advancing technologies.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience with material handling equipment within a dealer, OEM, or significant end-user fleet environment.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• Demonstrated experience in application engineering, fleet consulting, or equipment sales engineering, with a robust field-based background.

• Extensive knowledge of MHE classifications I through VII, warehouse operations, facility layouts, and equipment applications.

• Capability to read facility schematics and rack layouts, and analyze operational data such as throughput, utilization, hour meters, and telematics.

• Strong analytical abilities, including proficiency with Excel, fleet management platforms, and customer data.

• Skill in translating technical information into clear, business-oriented discussions with customers and internal teams.

• Willingness and ability to travel 60% or more, including overnight travel.

• Valid driver's license and the ability to fly domestically without restrictions.

• Knowledge of AGV/AMR automation, lithium-ion power, warehouse management systems, and emerging fleet technologies.

• Experience in Six Sigma, Lean principles, industrial engineering, equipment leasing, or equipment finance.
