Director, Equipment Application – Fleet Solutions

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Perform on-site application assessments at customer locations, which encompass material handling equipment, docks, aisles, staging zones, production areas, rack configurations, traffic patterns, load profiles, and shift activities.

• Collect facility data through direct observation, measurements, photographs, videos, telematics, and operational statistics to support effective fleet recommendations.

• Clearly communicate findings and recommendations to customer stakeholders, including warehouse leaders, operations teams, and executive decision-makers.

• Identify appropriate equipment for the application, such as forklifts, reach trucks, pallet jacks, order pickers, AGVs, and other related material handling tools.

• Maintain comprehensive, brand-independent knowledge of major OEMs and material handling equipment classes I through VII.

• Develop and uphold a standardized specification library and decision-making tools that assist account management teams in delivering consistent solutions more rapidly.

• Collaborate with account management teams during strategic customer visits, prospect evaluations, and business reviews to offer technical credibility and support consultative selling.

• Act as the primary equipment resource for account management teams, aiding in solution development, customer meetings, and addressing technical objections both in-person and remotely.

• Educate account management teams on equipment fundamentals, application principles, and strategies for positioning fleet solutions based on customer requirements.

• Partner with Supplier Management on vendor programs, pricing alignment, OEM pricing comparisons, and market trends.

• Collaborate with Operations and Service teams to evaluate real-world equipment performance against specification expectations.

• Provide insights to leadership regarding equipment trends, OEM performance, automation, telematics, alternative power, and other emerging technologies.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience with material handling equipment in a dealer, OEM, or large end-user fleet environment.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, a related field, or equivalent work experience.

• Demonstrated experience in application engineering, fleet consulting, or equipment sales engineering with a robust field-based track record.

• Extensive knowledge of MHE classes I through VII, warehouse operations, facility layouts, and equipment applications.

• Capability to read facility drawings and rack layouts and interpret operational data such as throughput, utilization, hour meters, and telematics.

• Strong analytical abilities, including proficiency with Excel, fleet management platforms, and customer data.

• Ability to convert technical information into clear, business-oriented discussions with customers and internal teams.

• Willingness and capacity to travel 60% or more, including overnight trips.

• Valid driver's license and the ability to travel domestically by air without restrictions.

• Familiarity with AGV/AMR automation, lithium-ion power, warehouse management systems, and emerging fleet technologies.

• Experience in Six Sigma, Lean, industrial engineering, equipment leasing, or equipment finance.
