This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Assume complete end-to-end responsibility for Docusign's global availability, ensuring a seamless customer experience and that every agreement processed is supported by a robust, invisible infrastructure.
• Supervise the creation of reliability tools and APIs utilized internally to enhance developer efficiency and externally by our customers to track the health of their account actions, integration health, agreement health, compliance, and platform trust.
• Provide management and mentorship to our Principal (P6) and Staff SREs, serving as a strategic collaborator with our top technical visionaries to ensure their designs address real-world customer challenges.
• Negotiate "Error Budgets" with a user-centric approach, advocating for them in all roadmap discussions, recognizing that seconds of latency are crucial for both envelope senders and signers, and that minutes of downtime can hinder business deals for our customers.
• Shape the architecture of the Internal Developer Platform (IDP) to make "doing the right thing" for the customer the most straightforward choice for our 2,000+ developers.
• Act as the main point of contact with key external partners such as Microsoft (Azure) and facilitate smooth collaboration across Product, Engineering, and Compliance teams.
• Transition the organization from a reactive firefighting approach to a proactive, self-healing culture through the vigorous implementation of Chaos Engineering and AlOps.
• Over 15 years of experience in Infrastructure, SRE, or Software Engineering, including at least 5 years in a Director-level position managing high-scale SaaS platforms.
• Proven experience in developing tools and services, treating infrastructure as a product and prioritizing developers/customers as primary users.
• Demonstrated accountability for complex, global systems and the ability to elevate them to higher standards of excellence.
• Ability to make technical decisions based on user impact and effectively translate "uptime" into "customer trust."
• Experience in managing and nurturing high-level individual contributors (Principal/Staff) and guiding technically specialized visionaries.
• Familiarity with public cloud ecosystems and understanding the strategic decisions involved in multi-region, high-availability architectures.
• Extensive experience in developing resilient public cloud capabilities and architecting enterprise-grade container orchestration utilizing Kubernetes (specifically Azure Kubernetes Service/AKS).
• A successful history of architecting Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) and creating developer-facing tools that significantly enhance the velocity, autonomy, and productivity of large software engineering teams.
• Hands-on experience and deep expertise in modern programming languages (such as Go or Python) to lead the development of infrastructure automation software and internal APIs.
• Experience in managing or scaling infrastructure that supports high-demand AI/LLM workloads and predictive analytics models.
