This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Take ownership of Cisco's Editorial Strategy.
• Create and manage Cisco's editorial strategy, aligning business objectives with a forward-thinking editorial agenda.
• Determine the narratives Cisco will convey, as well as those it will not.
• Direct the editorial approach for Story Lab, the Cisco Newsroom, blogs, and future owned media initiatives.
• Develop a unified editorial roadmap that connects business goals with audience interests.
• Plan and lead editorial efforts on an annual, quarterly, monthly, and sprint basis.
• Position Editorial Strategy as the sole intake point for all storytelling requests.
• Assess and prioritize opportunities based on strategic significance, audience relevance, editorial excellence, and available resources.
• Foster transparency regarding priorities, trade-offs, and resource distribution.
• Craft Cisco's editorial governance framework and operational model.
• Collaborate with Visual Storytelling to set unified editorial and creative standards across all owned storytelling platforms.
• Establish planning protocols, quality benchmarks, and decision-making structures that enhance consistency while boosting efficiency.
• Ensure every narrative adheres to Cisco's editorial standards, meets audience expectations, and aligns with business goals.
• Innovate editorial processes utilizing AI.
• Discover avenues to enhance efficiency, foster creativity, and refine editorial decision-making through AI.
• Lead and cultivate an expanding editorial team, including Editorial Planning & Enablement, Editorial Operations & Intake, and Newsroom & Blogs.
• Over 12 years of experience in editorial strategy, digital publishing, journalism, owned media, enterprise content, or related fields.
• Demonstrated success in building editorial planning processes, governance structures, and operational frameworks.
• Outstanding editorial judgment and storytelling capabilities.
• Experience in leading cross-functional projects within intricate, matrixed organizations.
• Strong executive presence with the capacity to influence senior leaders and foster alignment across various functions.
• Proven experience in hiring, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams.
• Track record of successfully driving organizational transformation and operational improvements.
