This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop, implement, and sustain comprehensive DOT compliance programs, policies, procedures, and standards across the organization while promoting a proactive compliance culture centered on safety, accountability, and ongoing improvement.
• Ensure adherence to all relevant Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Department of Transportation (DOT), state transportation, and associated regulatory requirements.
• Act as the main resource for DOT compliance advice and interpretation across the organization.
• Track regulatory updates and evaluate their operational implications, relaying requirements and recommendations to leadership.
• Conduct internal audits and compliance assessments to identify risks and recommend corrective measures.
• Set up and maintain compliance metrics, dashboards, and reporting for executive management.
• Supervise preparation for and responses to DOT audits, investigations, inspections, and regulatory inquiries.
• Manage corrective action plans and ensure prompt resolution of compliance issues.
• Oversee compliance and administration of Driver Qualification Files (DQF).
• Ensure adherence to driver hiring, onboarding, licensing, medical certification, and qualification standards.
• Create and deliver DOT compliance training programs for drivers, supervisors, managers, and operational leaders.
• Provide coaching and assistance to operational leaders regarding compliance expectations and necessary corrective actions.
• Oversee Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) monitoring programs and driver risk assessments.
• Manage compliance with Hours of Service (HOS), Electronic Logging Device (ELD) programs, and associated recordkeeping requirements.
• Lead drug and alcohol testing programs, including pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, return-to-duty, and follow-up testing protocols.
• Collaborate with Human Resources and Safety teams on employee compliance-related issues.
• Ensure compliance with vehicle inspection, maintenance, and recordkeeping standards.
• Work with Fleet and Operations leadership to establish preventive maintenance compliance benchmarks.
• Monitor vehicle registration, permitting, and licensing obligations.
• Support compliance requirements for oversized/overweight transportation as necessary.
• Analyze compliance trends, incidents, violations, and audit results to pinpoint opportunities for improvement.
• Formulate strategies to enhance performance and mitigate organizational risk.
• Spearhead continuous improvement initiatives that boost compliance effectiveness and operational efficiency.
• Execute additional duties as assigned.
• Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Logistics, Safety, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
• Certified Director of Safety (CDS) certification is mandatory.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in DOT compliance, transportation, fleet operations, safety, or regulatory compliance.
• 5+ years of leadership experience overseeing compliance programs and teams.
• Experience in supporting multi-state transportation operations.
• Proficient in managing FMCSA audits, investigations, and regulatory compliance programs.
• Experience within construction, energy, transportation, logistics, heavy haul, or industrial services sectors is preferred.
