Director, Circularity

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Oversee the strategic development of Tarkett’s ReStart take-back and recycling initiative.

• Revise the program’s scope, logistics framework, economic model, and end-market outlets.

• Suggest and implement modifications to the program model while constructing the operational and financial justification for reclamation capacity.

• Establish and monitor performance metrics for the program, including collection rates, landfill diversion, costs, and recycling pathways.

• Evaluate the feasibility and viability of various recycling pathways.

• Manage customer- and field-facing ReStart processes, ensuring consistent execution by sales and operations teams.

• Direct reverse logistics and the end use of materials.

• Identify and cultivate relationships with recyclers, reclaimers, and materials-recovery partners.

• Collaborate with R&D and product design to overcome technical challenges associated with closed-loop recycling.

• Represent Tarkett in industry coalitions, producer-responsibility organizations, and initiatives focused on circularity.

• Keep track of Extended Producer Responsibility legislation across U.S. states and Canadian provinces.

• Convert regulatory requirements into operational compliance strategies in coordination with Legal and Regulatory Affairs.

• Act as Tarkett’s main liaison with Producer Responsibility Organizations and represent the company during regulatory comment periods and trade-association working groups.

• Maintain a regulatory risk register and keep leadership informed about compliance deadlines and legislative changes.

• Present on circularity and ReStart to customers, architects, designers, distributors, and internal sales teams.

• Create customer-facing presentations, case studies, and diversion certificates.

• Assist with sustainability inquiries related to circularity and end-of-life performance.

• Coordinate reclamation and logistics resources to meet customer requirements.

• Collaborate with Marketing to ensure the accuracy and defensibility of circularity claims.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, materials science, sustainability, business, or a related discipline.

• An advanced degree is preferred.

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in sustainability, circular economy, materials/recycling program management, or environmental regulatory compliance.

• Ideally experienced within manufacturing sectors, building products, or flooring/textiles.

• Proven experience navigating Extended Producer Responsibility or other producer-responsibility regulatory frameworks.

• Experience in designing, launching, or managing take-back, reclamation, or recycling partnership initiatives.

• Familiarity with Life Cycle Assessments (LCA), Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), and related sustainability transparency tools.

• Strong executive presence and the ability to communicate technical sustainability topics effectively to customers, senior leadership, and external audiences.

• Willingness to travel for customer, partner, and industry engagements.
