Director, Applied AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Spearhead the recognition, development, and implementation of artificial intelligence capabilities throughout DSV Contract Logistics' North America shared business functions and essential warehouse and distribution operations.

• Personally design, construct, and deliver AI solutions, including LLM-based agents, finely-tuned models, retrieval systems, and intelligent automation processes.

• Establish and take ownership of the AI engineering practices for North America.

• Define and manage the AI governance, risk management, security, and responsible-AI framework for the North American region.

• Build and oversee a small, high-performing team of AI developers over time.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.

• At least 10 years of progressive professional experience, including a minimum of 5 years in building and deploying production AI/ML systems and at least 3 years in a senior or leadership role within a matrixed organization.

• Strong, up-to-date proficiency in Python and contemporary AI/ML libraries (e.g., PyTorch, Hugging Face Transformers, scikit-learn).

• Practical experience with leading LLM ecosystems (OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure AI Foundry); agent frameworks (e.g., LangGraph, AutoGen, MCP); retrieval architectures, and vector databases.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure preferred), SQL, and modern data warehousing methodologies.

• Exceptional written, verbal, and visual/presentation communication skills.

• Strong commercial acumen; ROI-focused; capable of dismissing ideas that do not demonstrate profitability.
