This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

• Architect, develop, integrate, and operationalize AI/ML capabilities that enhance decision support and operational readiness across various environments.
• Design, develop, and deploy AI models, algorithms, and systems to boost productivity, decision-making, and automation within the organization.
• Act as the technical lead for AI/ML strategy, architecture, and implementation throughout the program.
• Create and implement scalable AI/ML models to support the CMS mission.
• Spearhead the development of predictive analytics, automation frameworks, and intelligent decision-support systems.
• Incorporate AI solutions into secure enterprise and tactical environments.
• Ensure adherence to CMS cybersecurity and data governance standards.
• Oversee data engineering pipelines and manage the model lifecycle (MLOps).
• Establish and uphold model validation, explainability, and bias mitigation practices.
• Advise program leadership and stakeholders on new AI technologies and their mission applications.
• Facilitate the transition of experimental or prototype AI capabilities into operational production systems.
• Embed security, ethical, and data governance requirements directly into AI development workflows.
• Manage AI security risk by evaluating threats and generating necessary ATO, configuration management, and incident response documentation.
• Collaborate with ISSOs, business owners, and other stakeholders to implement secure AI solutions while participating in audits, interviews, and governance reviews.
• Engage in security governance processes to ensure ongoing compliance with CMS cybersecurity and operational standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across cross-functional teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field (Master’s or PhD preferred).
• Over 10 years of progressive experience in AI/ML, data science, software engineering, or related advanced analytics disciplines, including hands-on experience with contemporary AI technologies.
• At least 5 years of direct experience in designing, developing, and deploying AI/ML solutions in production settings.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and/or Java.
• In-depth knowledge of machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Experience in integrating AI/ML capabilities into secure enterprise environments.
• Candidate must be eligible to obtain Public Trust clearance.
• Candidate must have resided in the United States for at least three (3) out of the last five (5) years.
