This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey, +5 more states.
• Design, implement, and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure utilizing infrastructure-as-code principles with Terraform.
• Develop, manage, and support CI/CD pipelines to streamline the provisioning, deployment, and configuration of cloud resources.
• Leverage established cloud security, networking, resiliency, and governance frameworks to create well-managed enterprise environments.
• Collaborate within Agile teams to deliver, enhance, and support cloud solutions that meet business and operational objectives.
• Continuously explore and integrate new cloud technologies and practices to enhance platform reliability and delivery efficiency.
• Create, optimize, and sustain cloud architecture and pipelines that align with cloud engineering best practices and FirstEnergy’s business objectives.
• Assist in developing a strategy for creating a secure and well-managed enterprise environment in Azure.
• Support cloud developers in optimizing and automating cloud deployment tasks, such as CI/CD, provisioning, and deployment.
• Develop Terraform modules and pipelines to automate resource deployment and related configurations.
• Utilize native Azure services to fulfill the organization’s technology and resiliency requirements.
• Work as part of a highly collaborative Agile team.
• Create and support strategies to establish a secure and well-managed enterprise environment in Azure.
• Lead the design process for network connectivity to Azure.
• Design and implement data protection strategies, including high availability and business continuity protection in Azure.
• Experiment with and learn new technologies to stay ahead of industry trends.
• Engage closely with leadership, product, and design teams to ensure cohesive end-to-end architecture and seamless functionality delivery.
• Manage a substantial volume of intricate technical details, workflows, and interdependencies.
• Participate in requirements reviews and various technical discussions.
• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, MIS, or a related discipline.
• 1 year of experience with a degree, or 2 years without, in supporting the strategy, architecture, design, and implementation of cloud initiatives.
• 2 years of experience with a degree, or 4 years without, in supporting the strategy, architecture, design, and implementation of cloud initiatives.
• Experience in configuring, deploying, and automating Azure cloud environments (experience with AWS and GCP is a plus).
• Proficient in Terraform, YAML, and Azure DevOps pipelines.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Experience working in environments that require rapid prototyping and piloting of cloud solutions.
• DevOps automation experience, including the setup and configuration of CI/CD processes.
• Expertise in infrastructure as code tools (e.g., ARM, Terraform, Puppet, Ansible, Chef, Chocolatey).
• Understanding of standard networking protocols and components, including HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP, ICMP, and load balancing.
• Willingness to travel within the organization and service territory, and work extended hours as necessary.
