DevOps Engineer, Infrastructure – Part Time

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Take full ownership of the AWS environment, encompassing compute, networking, storage, and cost management.

• Lead the initiative to segregate WebinarJam's infrastructure into distinct accounts, ensuring independent billing, access, and governance.

• Maintain and enhance infrastructure as code using CloudFormation and CDK.

• Oversee third-party infrastructure services, which include CDN, DNS, identity, and certificate management.

• Plan for capacity and scaling during live events, accommodating peak and burst demands.

• Act as the primary point of contact for infrastructure incidents.

• Develop and uphold alerting and paging systems to ensure issues are promptly directed to the appropriate personnel.

• Establish incident response protocols, including escalation procedures, severity definitions, and post-incident analyses.

• Create dashboards and alerts to provide the team with insights into system health and customer-facing performance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive, hands-on experience with AWS while managing production systems at scale.

• Proven experience in separating, migrating, or consolidating AWS accounts across different organizations.

• Strong adherence to infrastructure as code practices.

• Experience with containers and orchestration in production environments, not just in development.

• Ability to audit unfamiliar systems and inherited work, providing clear reports on findings.

• Demonstrated sound judgment while operating independently, with a careful and communicative approach to production changes.

• Experience in supporting real-time or media-intensive workloads is a plus.
