Designer I – EPC

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Deliver technical engineering design, consultation, information, and support to both internal and external clients under the direct guidance of the Engineering Team Lead or Manager.

• May supervise or collaborate with Designers assigned to your team or project.

• Evaluate, provide feedback, and process equipment and system submittals.

• Facilitate coordination among civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, operations, field teams, and all electrical trades.

• Create designs, validate, and specify power, lighting, and auxiliary systems for photovoltaic (PV), distributed generation (DG), battery energy storage systems (BESS), or medium voltage (MV) systems.

• Develop and model short circuit and overcurrent protection device coordination studies.

• Assist in creating feeder schedules, assess cable losses, and model energy production under the guidance of a senior engineer.

• Ensure your work aligns with project specifications or equipment manufacturer requirements.

• Conduct site visits to survey existing electrical conditions under supervision.

• Gain proficiency in engineering analysis programs to evaluate loads, lighting levels, and short circuit currents under the mentorship of a senior engineer.

• Engage in project team meetings.

• Support and enhance skills related to drawing interpretation issues, conflicts, interferences, and errors.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architectural engineering, construction sciences, or a related field of experience.

• Capacity to learn Engineering Analytic programs for short circuits, overcurrent coordination, and arc flash mitigation programs, such as SKM, E-Tap, etc.

• Develop knowledge of codes and energy efficiency standards.

• Ability to learn and attain proficiency in AutoCAD MEP, AutoCAD Map3D, Autodesk Civil3D, Google Earth, PVsyst, PVcase, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.), and Illuminance software.

• Strong oral and written communication skills as required for the role.
